Searching old friends in Google ---October 13, 2009
I believe many of you have done this---searching old friends by their names in Google. It is amazing. You can find other people with same names as well as the person you are looking for. Sometimes you can see their pictures. Privacy protection? No. There is no such protection on the web. Some people wanted to be known. Sometimes it is convenient. Other times, it might be dangerous. What will you do if you are known to all over the world? You might receive phone calls or black mails.
Today I wanted to contact one of my old friends. I asked other friends about her. She gave me her mail address. I sent an e-mail to her but it came back undelivered. So I Google searched her. Amazingly she became a kind of famous person and used in a company homepage with her picture with it. But on that site, I could not find how to contact her. Yet I continue searching her. And then I found her phone number. She was listed as the user of town hall. I wonder if she knew about it. I bet she does not. And I guess the town hall didn’t ask her permission to list up on their homepage with her phone number. If for some reason you want to be hidden, be careful. Or if you want to be known, open up your homepage or blog and show all of your data and information with nice pictures.
I appreciate this world wide web network. I should be more careful how to use it.
Try Google search your name or your old friends names. You can have fun.
